about

Reflections was recorded on August 22nd and 23rd 2011 at Sound Foundy Studios by Brett Humber. All songs on the album are written by Kess, with the epic help of Dave Allan's sweet beats and helpful arrangement skills. Reflections starts out right in your face with a rock n' roll blast called Inception, and ends with a mellow, one-guitar electric jounrey through the stratosphere approprietly named Space Hamster.

There are the obvious thank you’s, like my parents, who have supported me, and have provided me with a lot more than I could ask for, SO THANKS MUM AND FATHER. But there are some VERY special thank you’s I would like to make, the first being a young man by the name of David Allan (Allan with an ‘a’, not an ‘e’, for those of you who were confused, as in the prototypes of my physical copies, I spelt it with an ‘e’, and he got angry, no, not really, but still. GOD DAMN GET IT RIGHT PEOPLE). This guy is pretty boss. He’s a rockin’ solid drummer for one thing, and a pretty boss mentor/friend/like brother to me/Mr. .Miyagi/song arranger/bridge writer/dude. He had to deal with me throughout the entire life of this album, and sit through my rants about how much I hate teenagers. He drove me to the studio, and tolerated my endless rambling, and was a super uber leet boss. SO THANKS, BRO.

The second person I wish to thank is a very talented recording engineer by the name of Brett Humber, who owns Sound Foundry Studios in Kingsville, ON which is where I recorded Reflections. You know that sweet back tracking on Space Hamster, or getting my guitar tone, or changing a string when I broke one? That was this crazy awesome guy. He also like SRV, which makes him ten times more awesome.

The third person I be desiring to thank is Mr. Jay Tesawhich. Although he did not play bass on the album (That was Marco, and I thank you for that!) he is a pretty ‘rad’ bass player in my live band. He helps me with my equipment, which is foreign to me as using chopsticks, and cutting straight lines with scissors. Aside from that, he also sat with me for a great deal of time cutting, and folding CD’s, and had to listen to me talk about my next concept album/rock opera about time-traveling Unicorns and Dinosaurs.

Chubby blues players, Angus Young, every musician from Bach to Jimi Hendrix has helped me make this all possible.

about

She may be young in years, but her musical wisdom is older than most people's record collections. At the tender age of 16, ... more Kess Carpenter is not your grizzled stage veteran showing her battle scars in her tone. But, only two years into playing the 6-string, she is already creating waves in Windsor's music scene. Her debut album Reflections, a mix of rock, blues and acoustic is available now. less
